Funding Your Case on Private basis
MCK Solicitors Ltd will provide you with high quality, fairly priced personal legal services.
We will advise you if legal aid is applicable, but where it is not, you will need to pay for your
legal advice and assistance on a private basis. All fees are subject to VAT.
Non-Fixed Fee Work
Our fees for non-fixed fee work are charged according to bands, in addition to VAT and disbursements. Administration costs are payable where appropriate at a rate of 15% on
top of profit costs. Your legal representative will advise you which fee band is applicable and
if any fixed fees are payable in your case. Our fee bands are charged at the following rates
(the table below shows rates excluding VAT):
Fixed Fee Work
We may agree to undertake work for clients on a fixed or capped fee basis. This will be the exception for privately paying clients, where it is usual for us to charge our hourly rates. Any fixed or capped fee will be case-specific and take into account the complexity and amount of the work involved. Fixed or capped fees will be negotiated with clients on a case-by-case basis, where appropriate.
Payments on Account
We will require upfront payment of cleared funds on account of costs and disbursements before any work will be undertaken on your private matter. We prefer such payments to be made via electronic payment into our client account or cheque payable to MCK Solicitors Ltd. Please ask your advisor so that we can provide our client account details. You may set an upper limit on the costs we may incur on your behalf before obtaining further authority from you.
